About me

After achieving my degree in Psychology at the University of Southampton in 1980, I went on to train as a Social Worker and spent 10 years working in Social Services in London, mainly with children and families.

I completed my counselling training at West Kent College in 1995. My training there was broadly Humanistic focusing on Person-Centred, TA and Gestalt.

I have had 2 years’ training (in 2001 and 2008) in Arts therapy. This means that I have developed my skills in working with creativity , image and metaphor, using a variety of art forms depending on client choice. This is not a necessary part of our work but can be a very useful tool.

I have a Certificate in Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and am a registered Hypnotherapist. I am a member of The National Society of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and I am registered with CNHC ( Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council) .

In 2002 I gained a Diploma in Individual and Group Supervision.

I became BACP accredited in 2003 , a BACP Senior Accredited counsellor in 2010, and a BACP accredited Supervisor in 2006. This accreditation is an indication of my having achieved a higher level of training and skills, and also means that I abide by their stringent ethical code of practice.

I have been working in Private Practice since 2003 and, prior to this, worked in various organisations such as Headway, Barnardo’s and Hospice in the Weald.

I am very happy to work with individuals of all ages, including young people.
